For arts and crafts, the children made homemade guitars. They used a cereal box, strings, and a paper towel roll. Teagan said, “I have one like Janet!” Annabelle used pipe cleaners instead of strings, very creative! They both made unique guitars!

Annabelle sang a song welcoming people and asking their names. The name of the song is Salam, Salam, and she was singing in Farsi.

Literacy

The children listened to the story Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea. Then they drew their favorite ocean animal. Teagan told me a story about her drawing.

Aria made her fish out of a paper plate.

Our Virtual Class

It is such a joy to watch children learn as they listen and observe.

We were learning about shapes different shapes. I demonstrate the shape of the book, square, and created a triangle shape with Popsicle Sticks. We also listened to a shape song and made a square, triangle, and circle in the air with our fingers. It was a lot of fun!!

The children are listening to stories and nursery rhymes.

Some of the children were playing musical instruments and their homemade guitars, including Janet.

Magic Milk Science Experiment

The ingredients for this experiment are whole milk, food coloring, dishwashing detergent, and Q-tips. The object is to dip the Q-tip into the dishwashing detergent and then lightly touch the colors and watch the colors spread. It happened only briefly.

The experiment did not go exactly how I anticipated; however, I will try next again! It is essential not to give but try, try again!

Land or Water

As the children learn to identify, recognize and articulate different animals, they are also learning where they live. On land or in the water (ocean).

Today the children observed a science experiment using a water bottle, vinegar, baking soda, and a balloon experiment. The two chemicals work together to create a gas. Gasses need a lot of room to spread out.  The gas started to fill the bottle, and it then moved into the balloon to inflate it.   The children looked amazed as they saw the balloon getting bigger.
