We are excited to share that we are opening a new Buckle My Shoe Preschool location in September 2023. Our Tribeca school remains open.

This new premier space, located at 80 8th Avenue (14th Street) includes 7,000 sq. ft. and allows us to increase our enrollment to include infants, 2’s, 3’s and Pre-K. 

Nested in Tribeca and the West Village and serving infants to Pre-K children, Buckle My Shoe Preschool has offered an enriched Reggio Emilia-inspired, play-based educational program since 1981.

Our mission is to work with families to reflect a developmental view of early childhood. All children are respected as individuals with their own interests. We actively support communication between the child’s home and school, seeking to establish an environment that nurtures cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth.

As childhood education experts, we focus on the whole child, encouraging our students to be the individual they were meant to be. At Buckle My Shoe Preschool, children are not only nurtured and cared for, but they are provided with the skills necessary to succeed academically and socially. We provide a stimulating environment where our highly experienced and dedicated educators guide children through daily individualized learning opportunities while facilitating advanced social skills and an awareness of others.

In the tradition of Reggio Emilia philosophy, our educators tailor a stimulating, never-repeating curriculum around the interest of each child, their intelligence, creativity, and uniqueness. We originally weave math, literacy, science, social studies, Spanish and art throughout the curriculum in a meaningful, tangible way for optimal learning.

Children bring with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it.  The 'Reggio' version of the child as competent learner has produced a strong child-directed curriculum model.  Reggio approach has a strong belief that children learn through interaction with others, including parents, educators and peers in a friendly learning environment.
