SUMMER AT BUCKLE MY SHOE: What’s it all about?
Summer is a slightly quieter and slower paced time of the year at Buckle My Shoe. With a smaller population we typically house the summer program within the front of the school and utilize fewer classrooms. The classes tend to be more of a multi-age group, which provides opportunities for younger children to learn from the older, and for the older children to take on a leadership role in caring for their younger classmates.
Attending at least one summer session is a great benefit for our infants, toddlers, and 2 year old students. It provides continuity between school years -- or a nice introduction for those beginning school in the fall -- and gives the children a safe and secure environment in which to play, explore, and learn.
For our 3 and 4 year olds, our summer curriculum involves a lot of outdoor play, various field trip excursions and spending time with friends.
For all of our groups, we focus on learning through nature, water play, connecting to the outdoors, exercising our bodies and enriching our minds.
The Buckle My Shoe summer experience is a great opportunity for your child to explore, grow and evolve in a place where they feel safe and secure. For more information, questions, or to apply to the program, please call 212.374.1489 or email summer@bucklemyshoe.org.
