Sense of Self

Celebrating individuality an uniqueness.

Our first Self-Portraits of the year have decorated our walls. The children are so proud of their work and are continuously working to make their portrait display “beautiful” by adding their name and picture next to their work. These self-portraits provide us with a special glimpse of how the children view themselves in the world. We are so proud of their dedication in becoming more independent and caring for their belongings. One of the amazing things that has developed quickly in our classroom is teamwork. It is our hope to build a community of unique individuals who will learn to soar, succeed, and shine together! What a great start to the year!

Playing family:

Sam, Milo, and Angelo

Sam: I’m a crawling baby and a walking baby.

Angelo: I’m the puppy of the family.

Milo: I’m the dad. I’m walking my puppy. We live in Denmark.

A conversation about FAMILY

Kian: I love my whole family. I love them because they love me and they make me happy. They say nice stuff to me.

Angelo: I have cousins in my family.

Kian: Cousins look like your friends because it’s the same. They’re your friends.

Milo: I’m a cousin to my baby sister.

Elizabeth: No, (laughs), you’re her big brother silly.

Milo: Oh, that’s right. (laughs)

Angelo: I have cousins and I’m a cousin.

Aayush: I have lots of cousins too.

Kian: Cousins are friends because they look like a friend but they are really your cousins because they are not in the same school as you.

Graydon: I think cousins can sometimes be in the same school. I’ve heard of that.

Kian: Really? I’ve never heard of that.

Charlie: My sister is in my school.

Graydon: My sister too!

William: I have a big brother but he goes to big kid school.
