We are designing a glowing cloud for one of our classroom displays.

This week Geneva’s dad, Zack, joined our classroom for a fun and messy activity. He is helping us design a cloud for one our classroom displays. He designes the cloud using wire and left the fun part for us. Everyone got messy and worked together to cover the cloud with paper mache. The children are enjoying the process and cannot wait to see their finished masterpiece.

Germs: Can you see them?

A little sneeze is a powerful way to send thousands of bacteria and germs flying into the air. The Pre-K children are beginning to understand the concept of spreading germs and the importance of preventing it from happening.

To demonstrate how a simple sneeze produces droplets of germs into the air, we filled a spray bottle with water. We sprayed the water into the air and demonstrated how it gets on everything. The children were surprised to see how quickly germs can spread with a sneeze.

We want to provide Pre-K with a visual of how germs transfer from 1 place to another and how fast that can happen. We also wanted them to think about the surfaces in our school where most germs live. The children took a swab to pick up germs for our germ study.

Pre-K will make observations and draw them in our journals. We wonder what they will look like when we return from the weekend.
