Music Monday

During morning meeting, we made shakers using bottles or jars, and beans, peas, or rice. We noticed the difference in the sounds of the shakers. The more or less you put in your bottle effected the sound each bottle made. We also listened to Giraffes Can’t Dance.

Some of us used out bottles immediately to the ABC Stop song (one of our favorite songs to sing because you never know when Melissa is going to start singing again!).

One of the activities on Google Classroom was to to create a water whistle. Nora tried the experiment and said, “Wow!” as she worked.

The other activity on Google Classroom was to paint to music. Leo used a variety of brushes. Based on his artwork, do you think the music was slow or fast? Leo listened to Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alabama Shakes, and Explosions in the Sky.

Tasty Tuesday

We began Tasty Tuesday with a milk experiment. Using milk, food coloring, dish soap, and cotton swabs, we observed how the food coloring moved away from the dish soap covered cotton swab.

Work Together Wednesday

Work Together Wednesday was also Earth Day. During morning meeting we talked about how we can take care of our planet. One of the Google Classroom projects was to move cups from one side, to another. The catch was that it had to be done using rubber bands, pipe cleaners, and team work.

For afternoon meeting, we had a guest reader: Noelle! Thanks for reading to us Noelle!

Artsy Thursday

Artsy Thursday started with a reading of The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Then we created our own dot inspired art.

Leo made clay and created sculptures with his mom. There was a panda, a panda house, bamboo, and penguins in an igloo.

During afternoon meeting we made puppets. The children seemed to be really excited about this project. Everyone use a variety of materials: fabric, paper, markers, and stickers.

Family Friday

During morning meeting we read The Family Book and The Thankful Book, both written and illustrated by Todd Parr. After that everyone went on a scavenger hunt with their special person. Everyone found something red, orange, green, colorful like a rainbow, and something that rolls. The children also shared what they like to do with their special person.
