Let’s Make a Book

The first assignment of our book making week was to come up with the main character. Aidan’s main character was Earth, and Nora’s book is about a superhero family . Noam’s character is named Furrrrrrr. He has one eye and likes to eat oatmeal. Leo’s book is about a bunny that lives in his backyard. Her nameis Ballaloola.

Morning & Afternoon Meetings

Literacy activities included secret words and “Guess the animal/object.”. Secret words is a great way for the children to work on their letter-sound recognition. The guessing game helps children to pay attention to details, use their memory, and work on their vocabulary.

We also began working on May calendars. Creating calendars are a good way to work on literacy (letter-sound recognition, and letter recognition) and math (number recognition and sequence).

One of this week’s activities was to create a scene based on an image. Leo was inspired by our morning meeting book (A House for Hermit Crab) and drew a hermit crab with the rest of his underwater scene.
