As we returned to school this week, we eased in with a variety of different activities. We returned to our love for beading and worked with alphabet letters that prompted us to speak about letter recognition as well as color recognition. It’s amazing that children who would struggle to put a single bead onto the wire can now fill the entire length of it!

Our love for building continues. We constructed roads, tunnels, dragons, boats and rivers . . . our imaginations are starting to soar!

We also tried our hand at tracing our first initial by connecting dots. Since the alphabet is definitely becoming more of an interest, we will continue to provide different activities to start learning more about the letters. We usually start with each child’s first initial, and work from there.

Some of our self portraits are starting to more closely resemble actual faces- we are seeing circles with eyes, noses and mouths inside! This is such a huge leap- we are so proud of all of the progress and understanding that we are witnessing.

Other activities this week:

  • Creating different colored paintings to create props for our Spanish colors song

  • We had soccer with Coach Steven

  • We loved playing with clay- we can’t wait to take it back out next week

  • Scooping, pouring and exploring with dry oats

  • Drawing with oil pastels
