Costume Sketches and Creations
October has been such an exciting month for the Pre-K. We have been working on our Halloween sketches and have already began to design our ice cream costumes! The children have been carefully cutting out toppings out of paper for their dessert and carefully selecting their materials for their special creations. Everyone is so excited to complete our costumes and prepare for our parade and spooky party celebration.
We are so excited to have our Pre-K families join us during this fun and exciting time!
Measurements
We also took time to share about ourselves and begin our Me, Myself and I project. We began to share things that makes us different. The things we like about ourselves. The things that make us who we are. Everyone took turns selecting their own measuring tools to measure their feet. They had so much to say about the size of their feet and many of them were comparing and discussing the difference in sizes. The children really enjoyed this activity and they are excited to measure more parts of their body.
“My feet are medium because I’m three and quarter.”
“I think my feet are twenty 40 beetles big.”
“Big like a lady bug, no, like two lady bugs.”
“My feet are one butterfly.”
“Two triangle blocks.”
“My feet are two spoons big.”
“I think my feet are 24 peanuts big.”
“I think my foot is small.”
We bought a pumpkin!
We took a walk to our local market (Morgan’s market) to pick up our class pumpkin. Everyone took turns to look at the pumpkins with their partner and help us decide on a special to take back to school. It was a perfect day to go for a walk and explore our neighborhood.
Spooky Stories and Visitors
This month Pre-K has requested to read spooky stories everyday of the month of Halloween. The children really enjoy story time and getting spooked. This week we had a special reader join us for spooky story time. Josie and her mom, Colleen, read 3 fun, spooky stories while in the 3b classroom. Everyone had a great time reading, singing, and dancing.
We also have a special friend joining Pre-K this week! Luca was in 3b last year and he and his family moved to London this year. Everyone is so excited about Luca’s return to NY, it’s a real treat!
Shared Snack and the letter of the week!
Today Milo and his mom, Lauren, shared a special snack with us all: Eggs and Edamame! Everyone really enjoyed this delicious, gluten-free snack! Thank you!!
