CLASSROOM HIGHLIGHT: 1A

The 1A class curriculum will focus on the ways that music can be utilized as a soothing and transitional tool in their classroom. The teachers believe that singing and music in general is a great way to ease separation and transition moments in the classroom. During morning drop off Michele and Kristine have observed how music immediately catches the children’s attention, drawing them in — calming their bodies and allowing them to focus and relax. Morning circle time has been essential to the beginning of each school day. As they sing each child’s favorite song(s), the toddlers gather together, visibly excited. It is obvious through their body language that they want to participate in singing and give voice to what the next song should be. Starting school is a big adjustment for a toddler! It is clear that transition and separation are the first developmental goals for the year. Before the deep learning process can begin, each child must first feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Music has played a very significant role in our classroom and has allowed each child to reach a new level of comfort at school.

NURISH TIP OF THE WEEK

Let your child show you who they played with at school. Cannot recall who a parent is, check Nurish. Share a photo of your whole family, add names and ages of your kids. Answer the questions so that others get to know more about your family. Here's how.

HALLOWEEN PARADE

We are looking forward to our Annual HALLOWEEN PARADE next week and everyone has been working hard on their costumes! Please sign up for your class party potluck if you haven’t done so yet. The map of the parade route is below, but we will be meeting in our classrooms first to get ready. The Pre-K children will lead the parade and the order will be from the oldest to youngest (Infants) on the tail. Let us know if you have any questions!
